On the second floor of the Gutman Library there are three different noise-level zones.

  • Chatter Zones are spaces where you can talk freely
  • Quiet Zones are spaces where we ask you to monitor your volume and be considerate of others doing work; these spaces are adjacent to Chatter Zones and therefore sound may travel into the space
  • Whisper Zones are spaces are designated for silent study and we ask you to keep conversations brief and at a whisper

These zones can be identified via signs throughout the floor and are also shown on the library's Interactive Map.
